  • GILLESPIE   I am trying to determine when David Gillespie (b 1858) emigrated to Massachusetts.  David was born in Hillsborough and married Ellen Frances Sullivan, also from Albert Co; they had 7 children, most or all of whom were born in Albert Co.  David worked for a time at the mines in Albert Mines.  He had only 1 arm, presumably following injury.  The family migrated to Wakefield, Mass.  Their 7 children were: Annie Grace (b 1902), Leo Joseph (1904-1990), Robert Francis (b 1906), Miriam Theresa (1910-1976), Francis X (b 1912), Eileen, Lillie.    I would like to know the date of their marriage and, is possible, the date the family emigrated to US.  David was the son of James Gillespie and Rosannah Steeves.  His sister Susanne (b 1846) married a Peter O;Brien and they also emigrated to Massachusetts and resided in Springfield.  They had 5 children who I think were born in the US.   I would appreciate any help available which could assist in completing the family tree. Terry Gillespie ctg@hfx.andara.com

GLADSTONE. Looking for information on the family of Walter W. Gladstone (born Gloucestershire, England) c1824-1896, son of William C. Gladstone "a near relative to WE Gladstone, Prime Minister". He was a teacher of instrumental music and teacher of public schools. He married Elizabeth Lahey Sweet in Saint John, NB on 8 Dec 1856. She was born in Truro, NS and had previously been married to Jarvis or Jabez Sweet. She may have been mother to Sarah Sweet who married Thomas Bannister and John Sweet who married Zeany Bannister. Walter and Elizabeth lived in Middlesex (formerly Bannister Road). They had 3 children: Walter G. m. Caroline Murray; Frank Seymore; Elizabeth m. James E. Smith. Bob Sweet (28/3/2000)
